Curated by Rod Cooper, The Vessel Project, is a long boat form with semi -enclosed sound chambers covered in strings, springs, bowing mechanisms, tongs, rods and tubing. The hybrid combines a complex array of sound-making devices all into the one instrument.

An increase in scale enables several artists to preform at once while allowing for other builders to attach their creations to the main stainless steel hull. The vessel’s mast includes a harp and a sail for video projection.

The first installation at Guildford Lane Gallery on WED 17 will feature Australian filmmaker Dirk De Bruin; Rod Cooper on construction, percussion & bowing; Anthony Magen on construction & sound design; Alice Eldridge on Idiophone bowing; Dale Chapman on construction & electronics; Dale Gorfinkle on construction & percussion/strings and John Jacobs on construction & pirate radio.

Doors open at 6pm.
