FRONT GALLERY : : QUIET MOMENTS by Elena

Continuing an investigation into the relationship between physicality and sensibility, Quiet Moments searches for beauty through a subdued lens. This series of oil paintings is presented as a celebration. Described in the depth and tactility of the figure, time is taken to pause and recount otherwise fleeting moments.

BACK GALLERY : : I HAVE A TALE TO TELL by Jonathon Harris

Built from memory, innocence, politics and celebration ‘I Have A Tale To Tell’ is inspired by actions for and against the LGBTQI community.

Beginning with memories of the artist’s first UK protest march in 1987 at 14 years old, the work represents defining moments such as the initial worldwide reaction to the AIDS epidemic, Margaret Thatcher’s government introducing ‘Clause/Section 28’ to ban the promotion of homosexuality in schools (painting queer people as second class citizens by law) and personally adopted icons to make the world a safer place.

This is a reminder that everything we do now shows where we have been and paves the way for the future. Words have power.

SIDE GALLERY : : ODE TO MORNINGTON by Jess Merlo

‘Ode to Mornington’ is a reflection of my exploration of forms collected from natural structures of sceneries and rocks from specific locations that hold a special place in my heart. The aim of this investigation was to discover new ways for these forms to create a compositional relationship on paper as they do in the sceneries they inhabit. Through the tradition of organic abstraction, this body of work represents the beauty in those natural territories as they are presented into the gallery setting.

UPSTAIRS GALLERY : : METAMORPHOSIS by Estephania Corbelletta & Victoria Constable

Metamorphosis is a collaborative show between Estephania Corbelletta and Victoria Constable exploring the transformative forces of nature. Their works are inspired by storytelling, mythology, poetry and human emotions through natural imagery and animal portraiture with surreal elements. Nature takes symbolic role in these works, becoming a witness to our present stage both as artists and human beings.

Themes traditionally seen as dark, such as death and decay, are shown in a positive light as a natural and vital part of our existence. We aim to encourage the beauty and poetry in life’s natural cycles, and to promote reflection and acceptance of nature’s plan.
