SPACE 1: The mountain is a permanent friend
Bakhtyar Kaftan

In this exhibition, my artworks are drawing on paper and the materials which had used are Chinese ink and a Rotring pen on traditional Korean and Chinese paper. The mountains are the main symbolic form
Mountains and rocks have had a direct impact on humans since the beginning of primitive life, and were a place to stay and safe haven, as well as a place to meditate and think through the history of an ancient human being and so on.
I have taken the shape of the mountain as a concept that reflects the psychological and emotional state of my personality to express the idea of resistance, struggle, free will, strength and protection. As a Kurdish artist I believe that the mountains were one of the reasons for our survival and the protection of our culture and language from the attacks and the invasion of Kurdistan since the sixth century AD because it was a safe place during the repeated genocide against us through history! So, I can say that: “There is no friend of the Kurds except the mountains,” it seems that this sentence is well established throughout the history of our Kurdish people.

SPACE 2 : The Intentional Life
Liza Posar

Living a simple life allows us to slow down in the modern world. By reconnecting with the simple moments in life, by living moment by moment, we can rediscover a sense of enjoyment and peace. Living a truly simple life requires intentionality. In a world that encourages selfishness and excess, intentional living can help remind us that it is the little moments that are the true wonders of being alive. With this increase in our own awareness, we can begin to realise what we have been gifted with and let go of an often fearful and anxious mind. This mindset supports us to live mindfully, without judgement or worry. In this way, we can all experience life and respond wisely to challenges, rather than simply accepting our circumstances and getting through each day.

SPACE 3: Colour and reason
Lindesay Dresdon

My artwork celebrates the infinite ways in which ideas and materials can be transformed into vibrant, expressive visual statements.

I’m particularly interested in the idea of ‘theme and variations’, where an image or motif is produced, dissected and rearranged into a new work. Sometimes the essence of the original is obvious, and sometime obscure.

The interplay of improvised gestures, surface textures, spatial composition, and a curious imagination are key elements in the production of my work.
