The Family Mould continues Nelson’s exploration into her self identity, further prompted by the birth of her first child which has created time to pause and reflect on the history of her family tree.

The hand coloured photographs pay homage to images from her family album by rephotographing them in today’s contemporary society, highlighting how the present contrasts to past eras of our ancestors.

The show also incorporates a moving timeline – a short film focusing on times and places that have been significant in the artists personal growth. The artist moves though the landscape expressing the experiences that have lead her to where and who she is today.
