‘Light &Shade’ are a series of oil paintings by Sydney artist Marcella Kaspar that echo the technique of tapestry artisans and painters of the Renaissance.
The paintings are “woven” like tapestries manifesting a symphony of different tones and hues.
The Peony was chosen for its historic reference and as a subject that best allows the artist to study colour and its subtle shifts as influenced by light and shade.
