KING KAPISI fuses an eclectic mixture of hip-hop inspired beats with sprinklings of rock, drum ‘n bass, reggae and jazz. King Kapisi was the first hip-hop artists in New Zealand to receive the prestigious Silver Scroll Award at the Australasia Performing Rights Association (APRA) Awards for Songwriter of the Year for his single Reverse Resistance, which followed on the popular release of his debut single Sub-Cranium Feeling from his critically acclaimed debut album Savage Thoughts (2000). His other successful albums include 2nd Round Testament (2003); Dominant Species (2005) and Hip-Hop Lives Here is due for world-wide release in 2011. King Kapisi has performed alongside Janet Jackson, Moby, Black Eyed Peas, Beastie Boys, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more.

Teremoana Rapley is a leading Hip Hop MC formally with the 1990’s legendary New Zealand Hip Hop Group Upper Hutt Posse. She is an accomplished musician, DJ, TV presenter, and director currently working at Maori Television – an Indigenous focused television station based in New Zealand.
