His first solo exhibition at Anna Pappas Gallery is entitled The World’s Fair and features work of playful intimacy. Comprising of intricate watercolour and gouache drawings and small mixed media sculptures, the exhibition explores MacEwan’s fascination with the remnants of 19th century World Fairs, revealing to the viewer an almost after-mass of entertainment with ghostly abundant scenes of leisurely iconic buildings. MacEwan has exhibited widely in Sydney and Melbourne and is represented in the Artbank collection as well as other private collections in Australia. The World’s Fair opens on October 12, 2011.
