The Elaboratorium: Scale Free Network at the Counihan Gallery in Brunswick

Briony Barr, Dr Gregory Crocetti, Jacqueline Smith

Scale Free Network is an art–science collective who borrow from both the science laboratory and the artist studio. The exhibition will draw on microscopic scale, exploring Brunswick's mossy outcrops and hidden watery worlds. Projections from under the microscope will focus in on unseen details, manifesting and magnifying invisible elements from both inside and outside the gallery.

The Elaboratorium, is an installation that takes its name from a 17th century term to describe where chemical substances were made and ‘elaborated’ upon.

As part of Scale Free Network’s public program, participants will collaborate to make a drawing based on microscopic footage. They will also have the opportunity to bring in objects to observe through the microscope.

Two workshops will be held on 18 August and 1 September, 12-2pm. Bookings essential, please call 9389 8622.
