For 2012 AND asks you to raise your glasses and make a toast as we go on the restless and seductive pursuit of success. In the context of a year when the UK hosts the Olympic Games, AND will look at how high value is placed on competitive lifestyles. How do we define success and how does this shape society? Featuring exhibitions, performances, screenings and debates. The festival will be a provocation to the current state of play as well as a declaration to find an alternative.

The festival takes place in Manchester with an extended regional programme. Since 2009 AND has commissioned work from Carolee Schneeman, Krzysztof Wodiczko, Gillian Wearing, Phil Collins, Rafael Lozano Hemmer, the Yes Men, Ubermorgan and Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

The festival is funded by the Legacy Trust, Arts Council Grants for the Arts Creative England, Lancashire County Council and the Welcome Trust.
