She has been invited to mine the museum’s collection of 26,000 pieces in order to create a four-gallery installation. Bloom’s work, which includes installation, photography, graphic design, and film, explores such themes as absence and presence, gazing and giving, breaking and repair, and how things can stand in for people and ideas. This installation is planned as the first in a series that will invite contemporary artists to engage with the permanent collection.
