The Miracles opens up thinking about what constitutes a family today, while also considering issues surrounding gender, sexuality and faith. Each image depicts the family of a child conceived through Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), ranging from IVF treatments to DIY home ingenuity.

Posed as though created for a Renaissance era tondo, each portrait is based on a Renaissance era Holy Family painting of disputed provenance or authenticity. Kelly describes the work as ‘at once an argument and a prayer’ for broader acceptance of family, parenting and kinship structures.
