Responsibilities include:

  • Design and management of all aspects of the Whitney’s after school programs for high school students, including programs such as: Youth Insights Artists, Writers, and Leaders Programs, as well as public programs for general teen audiences
  • Teaching and creating curriculum for programs
  • Working with Whitney artists to create and teach curriculum
  • Training and supervision of part-time staff and interns
  • Coordination and tracking of evaluation projects
  • Management of budgets for current and future teen programming
  • Oversight and management of the Museum’s teen web pages and social media
  • Writing grants and grant reports
  • Meeting and communicating with foundations and donors
  • Working on a longitudinal research project that focuses on teen programs
  • Contributing to the museum community through publications and conference presentations

Requirements: B.A., Master’s Preferred, background in art history, fine art, American studies, and/or museum education; 3-5 years professional experience, including work with high school students and teachers; strong organizational and communication skills; experience with program research and evaluation, Museum, administrative, and managerial experience also required. The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of educational and developmental theory as well as significant teaching experience. He/she will be flexible and will be able to work well as part of the School, Youth, and Family Programs team. Knowledge of contemporary art and artists’ practice is imperative. Position requires travel throughout NYC and extended hours for program implementation during the week and on weekends.
