New contemporary landscape paintings by Amanda van Gils.

These paintings continue to explore ideas of ‘landscape painting’ and how technology and fast paced contemporary living impact our view of reality. But coming to the forefront is her love of oil paint.

This exhibition is as much about the ideas that intrigue her as it is about the materiality of oil paint; its nuances and subtleties, viscosity, opacity or transparency and the sheer delight of working with this glorious medium.

“One of the finest compliments I have received is to be called “a painter’s painter”. This phrase acknowledges the importance I place in the materials I use. My studio, full of light and wonderful quality materials, is my very own ’Bright Place’ and in it I aimed to make beautiful, vibrant works for this exhibition.”
