In July 1908 Sisters Eustille Sayers, Dominica O’Sullivan, Bertrand Sweeney, Kieran Doyle and Hyacinth Lenehan arrived in Darwin by boat as pioneers in Catholic education, health care and pastoral services throughout the Northern Territory and the Torres Strait Islands.
This exhibition explores and celebrates their dedication to the spiritual, physical educational and social well-being of the Indigenous and non-Indigenous people of northern Australia through their tireless work in some of the most inhospitable Australian landscapes as well as their vital contribution to the development of our modern northern centres.
