Textile Conservator

We are seeking a textile conservator to undertake a 7 month contract to assist with the preparation of textiles and tapestries for the V&A’s new Europe1600-1800 Galleries, due to open in late 2014.

You will possess a recognised conservation qualification and have extensive practical studio experience. You will be required to have experience of both tapestry and textile conservation techniques and also be proficient in mounting textiles and costumes.

It is essential that you can organise your work with the minimum of supervision, produce a high standard of work within tight deadlines and offer clear and concise advice on conservation matters. You must have an interest in exploring new ideas and innovative techniques as well as having the ability to work as part of a team.

Candidates will be asked to submit a portfolio two days in advance of the interview
