3D Product Design Residency V&A and Goethe-Institut

The V&A, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut London, is inviting applications from 3D Product Designers who currently live and work in Germanyand wish to develop their practice through working with the V&A’s collections and engaging in the public participatory programmes that the Museum runs.

The residency will be based in one of our residency studios in the Sackler Centre, over a six-month period from 1 April to 30 September 2014. It will provide a monthly bursary (taxable) and additional materials budget for any public activities. A team drawn from the Museum’s staff will provide support throughout the project.

We are interested in practitioners who: use digital design processes such as CAD, rapid prototyping, digital prototyping and 3D rendering; wish to work with the Museum’s resources and collections; would welcome the opportunity to actively work on projects with the public; and are interested in presenting and interpreting their work for visitors. Applicants should have a track record of innovation and regular exposure of new work, and be able to demonstrate ongoing development in their practice.

Applicants must be available for this project from 1 April – 30 September 2014

Interview date : Thursday 12th December 2013.

Candidates must be available for interview on this date. You will be asked to travel to the Goethe-Institut office in Berlin to be interviewed, whilst the interview panel in London interview you via video link. There is an option to attend an interview in person at the Goethe-Institut office in London if preferred. Please state this in your application.
