Helen Anderson and Jillian Kellie – Selvedging the fray: stories in two voices
Helen Anderson and Jillian Kellie were born to expatriate Australian parents in Lebanon in the 1950’s and relocated to Melbourne in the mid 1970’s. They have the unusual ‘third culture’ experience of being sisters growing up in a foreign country before returning to the land of their parents.
This collaborative installation by Helen Anderson and Jillian Kellie combines works on paper with poetry and prose to explore memories, war, separation, loss and love and their strong bond formed over five decades.
Gallery Two
Amer Rashad: Life Postponed
In Iraq Amer Rashad was a renowned artist, editor, writer and political caricaturist. Exiled in 1990, he lived in Jordan and Tunisia until arriving in Australia in 2006. Amer explores his personal refugee story and the turmoil of his homeland through painting, drawing and works on glass.
