The Whitney Museum seeks a Communications Associate, reporting to the Director of Communications.

Responsibilities:

Create and disseminate press materials
Monitor and respond to press inquiries via phone and email
Serve as point of first contact for members of the press
Manage press at evening events and press previews
Participate in developing press strategies and managing press efforts
Assist the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer in administrative tasks and special projects, as well as other departmental staff as assigned
Maintain and create press clips for archiving
Manage photographic documentation of the new building
Handle general upkeep of the office
Maintain the press pages of the Whitney website
Enter and update press contact information in Raiser’s Edge database
Respond to email inquiries sent to the Whitney’s general email account

Requirements:

B.A. (art history preferred)
2 years administrative experience
Excellent written oral and communication skills
Ability to work independently and handle challenging situations quickly
Microsoft Office essential and Raiser’s Edge familiarity a plus
