In a career that has explored a range of genres including landscape, abstraction, portraiture and still life, Gerber combines exquisite formal technique with investigations into the very definition of painting. By exploring these genres separately, Gerber creates a synthesis of each, the result of which can be somewhat unsettling yet entirely engaging.

Gerber is a Dutch born, Sydney based artist. His work is included in collections such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales, National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of South Australia, Newcastle Regional Art Gallery, Wollongong City Art Gallery, Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery, Allen Allen & Hemsley, Sydney, News Limited, Sydney, University of Sydney.
