The graphic design department is responsible for creative direction, design, and production management for all of the Museum’s public-facing printed and electronic communications. The position will last for approximately ten months, and bridge the Whitney’s transition to its new downtown location—a distinctive time in the history of the institution which presents exciting design opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

Conceptualizing, developing, and executing graphic design for print, digital, and environmental applications, in close collaboration with colleagues from all Museum departments and under the supervision of the director of graphic design
Acting as liaison with outside vendors as needed
Requirements:

B.F.A. in graphic design with 2+ years of professional design experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Some experience managing commercial print production
Strong client-facing communication and project management skills
Strong typographic ability
Knowledge of 20th-century American art and contemporary art desirable
Computer skills: expertise in Adobe Creative Suite required; familiarity with interaction design and motion/animation preferred. Please send a link to digital portfolio
