Lauraine Diggins Fine Art is pleased to present Andrew Sayers: Nature Through the Glass of Time. This large selection of works, ranging from the late 1980s to today, examines the artist’s engagement with both time and nature. Many of the works reveal his interest in geology. The still life paintings of rocks embody the character of a place, so they act as a kind of portrait and contain andscapes within. The gouaches of seascapes with their focus on headlands, beaches and skies were mostly painted en plain air, whilst his recent large oil paintings have an anchor in traditional landscape.
Andrew Sayers is perhaps better known as the inaugural Director of the National Portrait Gallery and Director of the National Museum of Australia, Canberra.
