Maija Timonen is an artist living in London and Helsinki. Her work, spanning filmmaking, writing and performance, has in recent years been concerned with interpreting the consequences of the changing economic landscape on women’s lives, with a focus on the troubled interrelation of the body and mind. Her writings range from critical texts to fiction. She has contributed, among others, to Afterall, Mute and May Magazine, and her book The Measure of Reality is due out from Book Works, London, August 2015. She is currently a Professor of Artistic Research at Academy of Fine Art, University of the Arts Helsinki.

Saturdays Live explore ideas and practices connected to the Serpentine’s exhibitions and programmes through talks, readings and participatory actions.
