June, 1945. Badly injured, her face disfigured, Auschwitz survivor Nelly (the formidable Nina Hoss) returns to her hometown of Berlin. She is accompanied by Lene, (Nina Kunzendorf) a Jewish Agency employee and Nelly’s friend from pre-war days.
