Running over thirteen weeks from 24 June to 16 September, enjoy after-hours access to the exhibition, music, short talks, food and bars, and performances by local and international acts. This winter, rock, folk, pop and garage punk are all on the menu. Doors open 6pm. Headline act 8.30pm.

No strangers to the front of a spotlight, The Grates have spun punk-tinged indie rock from festival stages across Australia to sell-out shows in New York and London. Their visionary style complete with VHS fuzz and homemade costumes provide a stark contrast to the polished and the perfected. They’ve wowed audiences across the world including SXSW in Austin, Texas; CMJ in New York; NXNE in Toronto, Canada as well as Australian rock calendar staples. With each album, the band evolved, shed teeth and skin, performed rituals, inspired one another, fell in love and expanded from a stripped back 3 piece, to a bursting at the seems 5 piece mammoth.

A decade on from their debut release has seen them collect two top 10 ARIA Chart albums, Qmusic Award wins and J Award, ARIA and AMP Award nominations, the band are currently writing their 5th album in a home-made bunker in Brisbane. With scrapped knees, hair everywhere and larger-than- life sound, The Grates and their DIY ethos has always mischievously disturbed the quiet.
