ABOUT BJÖRK DIGITAL:

BJÖRK DIGITAL – Presented by Carriageworks and Vivid Sydney, BJÖRK DIGITAL is a world premiere presented in five unique spaces throughout Carriageworks and represents the premiere of a new virtual reality project by Björk alongside other collaborations with some of the finest filmmakers and programmers in the world. To celebrate the opening of BJÖRK DIGITAL, Björk will travel to Sydney to curate a music event at Carriageworks, where she will DJ with special guests. Björk has created internationally acclaimed albums such as Debut, Post, Vespertine, Medúlla, Volta and Biophilia.

BLACK LAKE – This Australian premiere is presented exclusive to Sydney, offering guests an immersive virtual reality cinema experience where the audience is encased in the claustrophobic and visceral experience of Black Lake. The work is directed by Los Angeles based fashion and music filmmaker Andrew Thomas Huang and was filmed in the highlands of Iceland. Black Lake was commissioned by The Museum of Modern Art, New York.

VIRTUAL REALITY – This world premiere will invite audiences exclusively in Sydney to experience for the first time Björk in 4D virtual reality. Works will include Stonemilker – directed by Andrew Thomas Huang and Björk. The shoot for the video took place at a beach of Grótta, Reykjavik, Iceland. Björk has also worked with director Andrew Huang, audio technician Chris Pike and creative producer James Merry. Mouthmantra – Björk and Jesse Kanda will present their first ever collaboration in the shape of Björk’s brilliantly claustrophobic video for Mouthmantra, directed by Kanda. The video is filmed from inside the Icelandic icon’s mouth, her tongue and teeth warped and twisted seemingly taking on a life of its own.

BJÖRK BIOPHILIA (EDUCATION PROGRAM) – An immersive multi-media educational experience that will enable audiences to explore extraordinary and innovative Biophilia apps created by Björk. This Australian premiere, that is exclusive to Sydney, comprises a suite of original music, interactive artworks and musical artefacts, Björk has collaborated with artists, designers, scientists, instrument makers, writers and software developers to create an extraordinary exploration of the universe and its physical forces, processes and structures.

CINEMA ROOM – A curated program of Björk’s extensive video work which will be remastered for this unique exhibition experience and is presented exclusively in Sydney for its Australian premiere. Throughout her 24 year career Björk has collaborated with film directors including Academy Award winners Spike Jones, Michel Gondry, Nick Knight and Stéphane Sednaoui.
