Sanctuary is the latest exhibition from children’s book editor and artist, Erica Wagner, which includes works from her 2014 residency at Nyora Studio Gallery in Eltham.

Using the process of deconstruction, Wagner has taken old paintings and drawings and repurposed them into new imagery, with the use of collage, watercolour and ink techniques. The idea of creating and destroying is almost therapeutic for the artist, and through her playfulness she has taken disorder, and created images that please her own sense of balance, and evoke particular feelings and moods for the viewer. Inspired by nature, poetry, and bird song, the pieces are spontaneous and full of unexpected connections.

Working in the publishing industry for over thirty years, Wagner has pushed the boundaries of her practice, to include art, which has been her secret passion. Join us on the opening night of Sanctuary to celebrate her work.
