This new series of six paintings explores the subtle decay of contemporary Australian culture by examining snippets of our suburban and regional makeup. Revealing the objects that dictate our social addictions and claustrophobic routines illustrates how our society is trapped within a disposable culture; helping to corrode the once celebrated ‘Australian dream’.
Nathan will also for the first time be exhibition a series of photographs offering further insight into how the camera and our urban surroundings influence the development of his paintings.
‘By shifting the conventional context of the everyday, an underlying sense of unease is revealed, and strangely paralleled by feelings of nostalgia. The inanimate becomes significant and the anonymous, intimate.’ – Nathan Taylor
