Ghosts, Toast and the Things Unsaid

Our latest VR Commission, Ghosts, Toast and the Things Unsaid is an intimate virtual reality experience that invites audiences to become the ghosts of couple, Steve and Maude, and revisit the kitchen where they fell in love, grew old and apart. The work provokes a meditation on our propensity to keep secrets, the words that go unheard, and what this means for our relationships.

Art Exhibition previously on at ACMI - Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Victoria, Australia.
From Saturday 29 October 2016 to Sunday 13 November 2016

Ghosts, Toast and the Things Unsaid is a collaboration between Google’s Creative Lab, Grumpy Sailor and ACMI X resident, Sandpit.

Sandpit create immersive, personal experiences that change people. They place audiences right at the centre of interactive experiences that connect physical things to the digital world.

Sandpit was founded in 2012 and is a collaboration between Directors Sam Haren, Robin Moyer and Dan Koerner, who between them have diverse experience in creating live events, screen media, digital content and developing new technologies. Past works include My 52 Tuesdays (Closer Productions), The Beginning of Nature (Australian Dance Theatre), Dial-A-Story (Penguin Books), I-Animal (Melbourne Zoo).

Grumpy Sailor is an agile, creative laboratory experimenting with digital technology and storytelling, and they have spent the past four years exploring these areas through their relationship with Google’s Creative Lab in Sydney, as well as with partners and collaborators including WWF-Australia, The Sydney Opera House, The Adelaide Fringe, The Royal Shakespeare Company, Art Gallery of NSW, Bell Shakespeare and The NSW State Library. Grumpy Sailor is the technology build partner for this commission.
