FRONT GALLERY : : TWOISM by MTICH

Seeing only binds the vision to the eye and words may help you see in the dark. But who’s to say a walk down an unlit street can solely occur as “beautiful" in the subjective mind?
Do my thoughts and ideas really exist without expression? And if expressed in isolation, will they serve any purpose?
Twoism is a body of work reflecting personal connections I’ve encountered in this past year. Through them I have come to grasp the importance of communication. In an exploration of medium and styles, my work aims to bridge the gap between documentation of the visual sense and the emotional connection to the subject.

BACK GALLERY : : IN PAIN by RAMAK BAMZAR

‘Ah! Would there were a place of rest from pain’ – ‘Omar Khayyám’

‘In Pain’ is a series, exploring the subject of suffering. Pain is a universal human experience. Pain is defined as “an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage or described in terms of such damage.” Pain may be a symptom of an underlying disease or disorder, or a disorder in its own right. Although pain is a universal experience, it is also a complex one. It is often silent and unseen but present. While the physical sensations involved in pain may be constant throughout history, the ways in which humans express and treat pain are shaped by their respective cultures and societies.

UPSTAIRS GALLERY : : EXPLORATIONS IN INK by NAOMI WALLER

Deciding to take a detour from my normal routine and art practice I started working in coloured drawing inks. The vibrancy of colour inspired me to stop constructing every element of the work in my mind and to just allow the work to unfold as it needed to. Challenging myself to release some control over the work I was producing and accepting the imperfect watery edges the inks create. Mixing this new way of working with my love of paper cut and layered acetate ink drawings has created something interesting and playful.

SIDE GALLERY : : COLOUR BENT by THE INK DRAW

The colours of our childhood are somehow brighter and stronger than they are today, the books that are read to us, the flowers in our gardens and the world around us. We are shaped by our memories and the colours in them.
