UCCA is pleased to welcome Dr. Marek Pasieczny to Beijing for his first concert in China. Organized in cooperation with GuitarW, the performance features many acoustic guitar classics alongside songs inspired by traditional music, art, and dance from ten countries around the world.

Performing Artist

Marek Pasieczny (Classical guitarist, composer)
Award-winning guitarist and composer Dr. Marek Pasieczny (b. 1980) is one of the most influential and respected contemporary composers writing for the guitar worldwide. As a composer, guitarist, lecturer, and adjudicator, he has appeared regularly at festivals in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Dr. Pasieczny has composed for and collaborated with such musicians as Pat Metheny, Odair and Clarice Assad, David Russell, Roland Dyens, Carlo Domeniconi, Ana Vidovic, Pavel Steidl, Edoardo Catemario, Gabriel Bianco, Krzysztof Pelech, Duo Melis, and many others.
Dr. Pasieczny holds three master’s degrees in music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow (for composition and performance with distinction) and the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, Poland (for performance with distinction). He completed his PhD at Surrey University in December 2015.

About STRING-139
Bach once said, “Music’s only purpose should be the glory of God and the recreation of the human spirit.” The GuitarW Music Workshops (www.guitarw.com) aim to use classical string music to enrich our contemporary lives. Inspired by Bach’s commitment to his art and his spirituality, this series presents concerts by hundreds of well-known musicians from all over the world across a variety of different styles and eras.
