Artist and Traveller, a solo exhibition by Sydney artist Sandi Rigby, will be showing at Artsite Gallery from the 4th – 26th March.
Sandi Rigby is a local Sydney artist who discovered her love for printmaking and etching after a career in graphic art.
In this exhibition, Artist and Traveller, Sandi Rigby communicates the mood of her subjects with colour, pattern and detail in beautifully executed paintings, drawings, and artist prints.
The multiple layering of etched plates captures her experiences of personal journeying both realistically and conceptually.
Rigby draws inspiration from bushwalking and names Croajingolong as her most inspirational bushwalk with its pristine beaches, rugged rocks, heath-covered headlands and sand dunes.
She has also fostered an interest in owls from a young age. Her exhibition at Gallery Oscar in 2013, The Powerful Owl, raised funds to fight the clearing of owl habitats.
The official opening for Artist and Traveller will be from 3-5pm on Sunday, 5th March at Artsite Gallery.
“I am passionate about my art and enjoy working with etching, drawing, painting and making Artist Books. I find my art wonderfully rewarding, sometimes exasperating and totally addictive.” – Sandi Rigby 2017
