Steel Lives examines steel in the form of contemporary jewellery, objects and installation. For Jo (South Korea) and Kiuru (Finland) steel is a highly symbolic, personal and ceaselessly potent medium. By bringing together their versatile and vastly different approaches to working with this industrial and often unpredictable metal, they illuminate the wide emotional and material range it holds. Playing with the idea of “still life”, the exhibition closely juxtaposes two individual expressions on one material, purposefully creating tension and inviting the viewer to make unexpected connections.
