Art and Space is based on the historic encounter between Eduardo Chillida and the philosopher Martin Heidegger, and the latter’s eponymous 1969 essay with illustrations by the great Basque sculptor. This innovative look at a central theme in Basque art history will also be a celebration of the space of the Museum, of its inexhaustible dynamism, and the productive dialogue among collections and narratives within the Guggenheim Constellation and beyond. The show will feature works by Eduardo Chillida, Sir Anthony Caro, Olafur Eliasson, Lucio Fontana, Sue Fuller, Robert Gober, Eva Hesse, Cristina Iglesias, Prudencio Irazabal, Agnieszka Kurant, Sol LeWitt, Richard Long, Anna Maria Maiolino, Asier Mendizabal, Bruce Nauman, Iván Navarro, Damián Ortega, Jorge Oteiza, Pablo Palazuelo, Nobuo Sekine, Susana Solano, and Lee Ufan, among others.
