Her latest body of work/exhibition, Vantage Point, opening at Port Jackson Press in Melbourne on 9 October, is the culmination of two years of exploring new lithographic techniques to express her strong sense of place, presence, spirit and memory, and now a sense of renewal. Perched on top of a mountain in the Catalan Pyrenees, Australian artist, Danielle Creenaune takes in the scene that she fell in love with 15 years ago and that she keeps returning to as inspiration for her beautiful landscape prints. Back in her home studio in Barcelona, the images that are imprinted in her memory now, start to take life through experimentation and her constantly evolving desire to challenge the boundaries of printmaking.

Her latest body of work/exhibition, Vantage Point, opening at Port Jackson Press in Melbourne on 9 October, is the culmination of two years of exploring new lithographic techniques to express her strong sense of place, presence, spirit and memory, and now a sense of renewal – of seeing familiar things through new eyes, a child’s eyes, as if for the first time.

The strong and bold introduction of colour into her work also adds to the sense of exploring “the new” and conveys an element of risk taking and variability which the artist has clearly succeeded in achieving. One senses this is the beginning of new pathways which bring an exciting freshness and light to an ever developing body of work from this searching and talented Australian artist abroad.

“Our experience of landscape is spatial and the sensations we feel go beyond what is seen visually. My work explores the dialogue between how landscape is seen, how it is perceived through our library of pre- lived experiences and how this is reflected through the visual language of gesture.”
