The 2019 ANL Maritime Art Prize call artists to respond to the theme of 'the Relationship of Humanity to the Sea.'

Entries are Open for the 2019 ANL Maritime Art Prize! For the seventeenth consecutive year, the ANL Maritime Art Prize calls artists to respond to the theme of ‘The Relationship of Humanity to the Sea’

Maritime art is a genre significant to Melbournians, as our city embraces Port Phillip Bay in a warm hug of the city scape, residential urban sprawl and the Ports. The Maritime Art prize attracts around 350 entries, with a finalist selection of 80 artworks, who compete for 4 awards including the major Maritime Art Prize, Best in Traditional, Emerging Artist, and the People’s Choice. The total prize pool is over $27,000. Artworks in the medium of painting, mixed media, collage or drawing are accepted into the exhibition.

The event is the fundraising initiative of the Mission to Seafarers Victoria, located in an enchanting and iconic building in Docklands in the month of October, and is well worth a visit any day of the year, but particularly to see the Maritime Art Prize.

See our website for further details.
