ISEA2013, the 19th International Symposium on Electronic Arts, will be in Sydney. Entitled ISEA2013: Resistance is Futile, the symposium will explore the impact of digital media, treating it not simply as a visible thing, but as something inevitably existing in everything.

‘Bleeding’ through Sydney’s social, digital and physical infrastructure, ISEA2013 will allow artists to creatively investigate the boundless elements of digital media which already fosters TV, radio, games, film, fashion, and gadgets.

Founded in the Netherlands in 1990, ISEA International (formerly Inter-Society for the Electronic Arts) is an international nonprofit organization fostering interdisciplinary academic discourse and exchange among culturally diverse organizations and individuals working with art, science and technology.

In 2010 an Organising Committee consisting of Experimenta, ANAT, UTS, UNSW (COFA), Sydney University, NSW Events, Business Events Sydney, d/Lux/Media Arts and the Australia Council for the Arts formed to help secure ANAT’s bid to present the symposium in Australia.
