Expanding Your Career is a 7-week fully online course aimed at developing skills to increase your capacity to work beyond the studio and gallery; enabling you to engage with the broader creative industries and the private sector as well as public art commissions and community cultural development projects.

The Course is facilitated by Lisa Cahill, the Executive Director of the Australian Design Alliance (AdA) a highly skilled individual who has worked in various capacities in the arts and creative industries: a creative producer in theatre and the visual arts: a business development and fundraising consultant for arts organisations; a research analyst at the Australia Council for the Arts; and a sessional lecturer at the College of Fine Arts (COFA).

Expanding Your Career will include lecturers and feedback from three high profile guests Alison Carroll, (Former Founding Director of Asialink), Marla Guppy director of Guppy & Associates and Terri Winter founding member of top3 by design and judge for the Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Awards and the Australian International Design Awards

Alison Carroll has an extensive and enviable history as an academic, critic, writer and curator for over 20 years. She was the founder and director of the Arts Program at Asialink, University of Melbourne, the main program for arts exchange between Asia and Australia and will discuss new global and local opportunities for artists.

Marla Guppy is the director of Guppy & Associates, a consultancy working with Government, community and corporate sectors on cultural planning, civic processes and public art development. Marla is an advocate for cultural sustainability in new communities and will provide participants with expert advice on public art practices, processes and the potential opportunities for artists in public art.

Growing up in country Australia, with an unusual appetite for engineering and architecture, Terri Winter is more of a mover and shaker of the industry than she would care to admit. Terri was a founding member of top3 by design and under Terri’s leadership, top3 with three Sydney stores and a strong online presence has grown to an Australian institution, winning numerous national and international awards, including the Global Innovator Award in Chicago.

Terri’s passionate advocacy for Australian designers to hold their own on the International Design Scene is shown through support at retail by stocking their completed products as part of the range at top3 by design, to providing advice for young designers.
