The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) announces MCA on The Rocks, a talk show inspired series stirring up a cocktail of ideas. Some of Sydney’s most dynamic thinkers and personalities are invited to host a season of conversations using MCA exhibitions as a starting point.

Unlike curatorial lectures, these talks between hosts and their guests use exhibition concepts as a springboard to shake up and explore a whole range of topics and themes.

The inaugural season from March to May kicks off with arts aficionado, journalist, radio and television presenter Fenella Kernebone. Drawing on themes present in Anish Kapoor, South of no North: Laurence Aberhart, William Eggleston, Noel McKenna and JEFF WALL Photographs, it asks Is bigger always better? Why do we love to hate the suburbs? and Is it OK to not like Contemporary Art?

The season’s guests include Co-Director of Performance Space Jeff Khan, artists Ben Quilty and Brook Andrew, comedian Hannah Gadsby, MCA Director Elizabeth Ann Macgregor OBE and architect Anthony Burke.

Seasons two and three are hosted by political commentator Joe Hildebrand and comedian and vintage enthusiast Tim Ross respectively.

MCA on The Rocks is held in the Veolia Lecture Theatre every third Thursday of the month. Each session is followed by a Q&A and a glass of wine.

$20/$15 MCA Members and Concessions in advance (booking fees apply)

$25 at the door (subject to availability)

Third Thursday of every month, Veolia Lecture Theatre, 6.30-8.00 pm
