Debbie Symons is an Australian video artist who uses graphical information aesthetics to represent pertinent environmental and social problems within a lexicon which those who control the world's economies can understand.

World Species Market was exhibited globally on Urban Screens, including Federation Square, Melbourne in November 2009. The work incorporates 10 years of data from the IUCN Red List Of Threatened Species to emphasise the ever increasing number of threatened animal and plant species across the globe.

Profits / Populations — It’s all Numbers interrogates the inextricable links between environmental degradation and free market capitalism. During the 5 minute video, threatened species and destroyed natural resources are juxtaposed with commodities, unequivocally and powerfully measuring the costs of recent economic development within the Amazon rainforest.

Both videos are now available on YouTube.
