Winners of The Substation Contemporary Art Prize 2013 announced image

After an huge nationwide response, 50 artists have been shortlisted to exhibit at The Substation Contemporary Art Prize 2013. Eric Bridgeman has won the $10,000 major award.

Established as a non-acquisitive award intended to recognise and encourage innovation in contemporary art practice, the selected works across multiple disciplines whilst offering explorations and perspectives on an array of contemporary social, environmental and political themes. Consisting of Western Suburbs, wider Melbourne and interstate artists, the participating works on exhibition over the three floors of The Substation building represent a breadth of emerging and established contemporary art practice in Australia.

Bridgeman is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Brisbane and Sydney, Australia, belonging to the Yuri clan of Chimbu province, Papua New Guinea.
