Art Gallery in Victoria, Australia.

China and the Asia Pacific region have risen in recent decades to impact both politically and economically worldwide. In recent years that growth has also extended into all things creative. In an audacious move and in recognition of this growth, in 2011 collector and arts patron Yashian Schauble decided to launch a new gallery in order to aid and abet the major creative connections between China, Australia and the Asia Pacific.

Ausin Tung is far removed from your average commercial gallery. Alongside a large and elegant exhibition space in High Street, Prahran, Melbourne overseen by Gallery Director Megan Leckie, Ausin Tung are managing an extensive exhibition program in Auckland, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong. Nothing if not ambitious, Ausin Tung aims to build its relations within the Asia Pacific region by staging innovative exhibitions and undertaking aligned projects in external spaces, essentially introducing its artists to a worldwide market.

In addition, the gallery oversees an artist-in-residence program in close rapport with its Melbourne exhibition space, and spaces in Shanghai and Auckland. This program aims to support and cultivate Chinese and Asian artists, maintaining long-term relationships and strengthening the thriving Australian art scene. Ausin Tung Gallery is intent on establishing its role as an international platform for art from Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, by collaborating with other galleries, organisations and cultural institutions. The Gallery’s strong links to a global base of collectors and a thriving network of international curators, art fairs and museums will assure a major impact on contemporary art.

Ausin Tung Gallery already functions as a bridge between worlds with the inaugural season presenting several dynamic group exhibitions featuring Australian and Chinese contemporary artists, with works conceived specifically for the space. The flexible nature of the gallery allows for both intimate and monumental installations, helping to provide a new discourse between artists from different generations and origins.

The Gallery policy is based on openness, enthusiasm and the spirit of collaboration.
