Unset Typologies

Izabela Pluta has always been drawn to sites that invoke a longing for place, such as redundant urban landscapes and dilapidated or reused buildings – sites that appear to drift between an actual place and a past place. Framed by large-scale excavation and extensive new development, the CitiPower Substation is an example of an industrial landscape caught between past and future.

Maxims of Behaviour

Set high among the billboards and signs of the major city intersection of Bourke and Swanston streets on the '60s Royal Mail House building, maxims of behaviour is an artwork of moving light. At night, this expansive work mimics Melbourne's colour and rhythm while appearing to have a life of its own.
