The Gallery shop is a treasure trove of modern Aboriginal art, crafts, textiles and homewares.
Opened three years ago by art lover Nichola Dare, the Shop has gained a reputation for sourcing exquisite pieces from both emerging and collectable artists from across Australia that aren’t available anywhere else in Sydney.
In addition to many of the traditional ‘Dreamtime’ pieces that are usually associated with Aboriginal art, the Shop boasts a number of one-off pieces from a new generation of Aboriginal artists that are colourful and easy to live with in today’s modern home. They are also very affordable, so are perfect for people looking to liven up their home or office with a new artwork or artefact that doesn’t break the bank.
Every painting in the Shop comes with a certificate of authenticity and is of the highest quality. Nichola works closely with Aboriginal community art centres countrywide to handpick a wide-ranging selection of one-off or limited edition pieces, including Iwantja Arts and Crafts in South Australia, Warlukurlangu in the Northern Territory, Warmun Arts and Mangkaja Arts from Western Australia. In this way she ensures she reaches new and emerging artists who are on the way to making their mark with their art.
As well as paintings, The Gallery Shop showcases beautiful, ethically produced homewares including cushion covers, rugs, baskets, message sticks, wall hangings, ceramics and felt crafts that make for perfect gifts for any occasion.
All artworks are available to be tried out at home or in the office, and Nichola also offers home visits to assist in choosing the perfect piece.
