bo.lee gallery exhibits both UK-based and international artists throughout the UK and at leading art fairs in the UK, Europe and the USA.
Established in Bath in January 2009, bo.lee gallery successfully attended eight art fairs, launched ten gallery exhibitions and undertook three off-site projects in its first year. Jemma Hickman introduced the gallery to the international art market in midst of a global recession supported by a strong network of contacts, invaluable personal experience and an unerring faith in the resonance of the art market “the change in the market has given rise to a more discerning collector with an interest in investing in quality”.
Gallery and guest artists are selected who work with a strong narrative that encourages the imagination and challenges the viewer’s perceptions. Figurative paintings, sculptures and photography from emerging US and UK artists are most frequently on show, “there is a dark edge to the work, which wasn’t initially my intention but down to a taste. The house style has developed since we opened and the reputation of the artists is growing alongside the gallery.” Furthermore Hickman is accustomed to stepping beyond the boundaries of traditions “I try not to shy away from confrontational works of art and many of our artists touch upon complex subject matters”.
Today, bo.lee gallery exhibits established and emerging artists including Ione Rucquoi, Bobbie Russon, Patrick Haines and Sarah Ball from an appointment-only showing space in London, N1 and via exhibitions and art fairs throughout the UK and Europe. The gallery places a firm emphasis on the management and support of its artists, building strong personal relationships with artists and offering a bespoke service to clients.
