Alison Kelly Gallery was one of Melbourne’s foremost Contemporary Indigenous Art galleries, committed to exhibiting quality Indigenous art. Established in 2000, Alison Kelly Gallery relocated to Albert Street, Richmond, Melbourne’s exciting new art gallery precinct.
Through its regularly changing exhibitions, the Gallery showcased the works of artists from across Australia, including the Western Desert, Utopia, Arnhem Land, Balgo Hills and The Kimberley.
The Gallery also had a comprehensive selection of artworks in its stockroom including works by some of Australia’s most significant Indigenous artists. The artwork covered a broad spectrum including painting, works on paper, sculpture and traditional tribal artifacts on bark, wood and fibre. Alison Kelly Gallery actively supported both established artists, and emerging younger artists thus encouraging the development of a continuing and sustainable tradition of art practice.
