About RMIT Intersect:
Australia’s RMIT University is one of the world’s leading art and design universities. RMIT INTERSECT is a conduit to connect the University’s students, staff and research into the broader global arts community. We manage six creative projects that together form a dynamic program of exhibitions, residencies, creative laboratories and critical discussions; they are the galleries PROJECT SPACE, SPARE ROOM and SITE EIGHT, the residency program SITUATE, the public art project LIGHTSCAPES and the lecture series SPEAKER. At the core of our program is a simple goal: we strive to enrich, challenge and empower our University community by connecting with, nurturing and celebrating innovative and diverse art practices. We are closely aligned with the RMIT School of Art, which fosters contemporary art practice and research within the fields of fine art, photography, public art and arts management.

PROJECT SPACE Gallery:
Project Space is a gallery that links prominent exemplars of practice-based research with Melbourne’s creative communities through a dynamic program of contemporary art projects.
Project Space Gallery Location: RMIT Building 94 Level 2(Ground), Room 1, 23-27 Cardigan Street, Carlton, VIC, 3053
Opening Hours (during exhibition periods): Monday by appointment only, Tuesday to Friday 11am – 5pm, Saturday to Sunday gallery closed.

SPARE ROOM Gallery:
Spare Room is a gallery space adjacent to Project Space in RMIT’s Building 94. It is a small space for large ideas—a keyhole into rich conversations, blue skies and deep dives. The gallery program is aligned both conceptually and temporally with its neighbour; exhibitions launch and run concurrently with projects organised to inform, relate and or counterpoint one another.
Spare Room Gallery Location: RMIT Building 94 Level 2(Ground), Room 1, 23-27 Cardigan Street, Carlton, VIC, 3053
Opening Hours (during exhibition periods): Monday by appointment only, Tuesday to Friday 11am – 5pm, Saturday to Sunday gallery closed.

SITUATE:
Situate (previously RMIT iAIR, the international Artist in Residence program) is a residency program for artists, curators and researchers. Situate connects people through art by creating onsite real-time opportunities for creative experimentation, cross-cultural dialogue and global mobility. At its core, this project believes that one of the best ways to enable and generate a great discussion is to simply shorten the physical distance between two ideas.

SITE EIGHT Gallery:
Site Eight (previously RMIT School of Art Gallery) is a gallery situated in the heart of the School of Art. It derives its name from its physical location in room 8 of RMIT’s building 2. Site Eight is a dynamic multi-purpose art space that professionally services the various needs of the School’s programs and student communities. The gallery maintained a regular public program of exhibitions from 2005 to 2014 but is now publicly programmed on an ad hoc basis.
Site Eight Location: RMIT Building 2, Level 2, Room 8, Bowen Street (off Latrobe St), Melbourne, VIC, 3000
Opening Hours (during exhibition periods): varies by exhibition

LIGHTSCAPES:
Lightscapes is a public art project that connects to the very fabric of the city—enriching, critiquing and reconsidering notions of audience, site and public space through art. It is comprised of 14 light boxes fixed to building facades across RMIT and Melbourne Central.
Lightscapes Locations: In and around RMIT Bld 2, 24, Rodda Lane and Knox Place (Melbourne Central), Melbourne, VIC, 3000
Opening Hours (Building 2 and 24): visible Monday to Friday 9am – 6pm
Opening Hours (Rodda Lane and Knox Place): visible 24/7

SPEAKER:
Speaker is a series of talks by contemporary artists, thinkers and curators. It is a space to come together to listen to, think about and discuss a range of ideas, art practices and cultural issues. Speaker is presented by RMIT School of Art, Art + History + Theory + Cultures, and RMIT Intersect. The talks are open to the public and take place in lecture halls across RMIT’s city campus.
