MoMA Acquires László Moholy-Nagy’s “EM 1 (Telephone Picture),” Reuniting in its Collection Three Masterworks of Modern A

The Museum of Modern Art has acquired László Moholy-Nagy’s EM 1 (Telephone Picture), 1923, a masterwork from the artist’s Bauhaus period. In MoMA’s collection it will join EM 2 and EM 3, which were given to the Museum by Philip Johnson in 1971 in honor of Sibyl Moholy-Nagy, the artist’s widow.

Stuart Comer has been appointed Chief Curator of the Department of Media and Performance Art at The Museum of Modern Art, it was announced today by MoMA Director Glenn D. Lowry. Mr. Comer, who has served as Curator of Film at Tate Modern, London, since 2004, will oversee the department’s program of special exhibitions, installations from the collection, and acquisitions.
