Deanne Butterworth is a female artist born in Australia, currently working in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Deanne Butterworth works in contemporary dance. She has been a long standing performer in the work of Shelley Lasica, both in Australia and overseas; Danceworks Company & Sandra Parker Dance, performing new work in New York, Berlin, Lisbon; performed in the work of Jo Lloyd as well as collaborating with her on ‘Project BlahBlah’; created work with Tim Harvey in NYC & Melbourne. Performed with Balletlab and participated in the development of new work. Performed in the film work of visual artist David Rosetzky, ‘Think of Yourself as Plural’ (2008), shown at Sutton Gallery, Fitzroy.

She has created a number of solo works, most recently, ‘Twinships’, created during a six-month Housemate residency at Dancehouse, Melbourne; onenadthesame’ a work for video in collaboration with musician, Michael Munson, supported by a Summer Space Grant from Dancehouse; ‘Dual Reperage in Threes’, a solo work for which she was nominated for a Green Room Award for female performer, (Sept 2009) & ‘Dual Reperage’ shown at the ‘With The Lot’ event at Lucy Guerin Inc, April 2009. In July 2009 she undertook a residency at Bundanon, NSW to develop, ‘How To Act’, and in August 2009 attended the Summer University at Performing Arts Forum, St. Erme, France. Her most recent performances include, ‘Full Colour’ (Dec 2009), by Shelley Lasica at Chunky Move; the collaborative performance with Lasica, ‘Duelle’ (Dec 2009), at the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Fitzroy which included the participation of selected photographers. Her work has been supported by Arts Victoria, the Australia Council, Bundanon Trust & Dancehouse. She teaches in the public class program at Chunky Move and has taught at Deakin University, Dancehouse & Footscray Community Arts Centre.
