Bowness Photography Prize

This year, 48 photographers have been short-listed for the prize, covering the full gamut that is contemporary photography Australia. The exhibition of finalists opens at MGA on Thursday 4 September. That night, the winner of the $25,000 prize will be announced at a special cocktail party at MGA.

Over the last thirty years Claudia Terstappen has taken photographs of places throughout the world that have spiritual resonance or associations. The basis of this exhibition is a selection of these landscapes, presented as gelatin silver prints printed by the artist between the 1980s–early 2000s.

Bowness Photography Prize 2011

Thirty seven images by some of Australia's best photographers are in the running for the $25 000 William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize. The finalist's works were selected from approximately 2 000 photographs submitted by 432 entrants. One of these finalists will win the $25 000 first prize. Three finalists will be awarded an Adobe Honourable Mention prize.
