Somaya Langley is a sound and media artist, and has presented and performed work in conferences and festivals throughout Australia and internationally including the International Symposium of Electronic Arts (2008), Transmediale.08 (2008), das kleine field recordings festival (2008), the International Conference on Auditory Display (2004, 2007), the Australasian Computer Music Conference (2006), the Australasian Sound Recording Association Conference (2006), Liquid Architecture 6 (2005) and Electrofringe (2003 – 2008).
She was a member of the sensor-trio HyperSense Complex, is one half of the duo MetaSense and performs live electroacoustics under the pseudonym ID-i/o. Her current practice focuses on embodied and immersive experiences mediated by technology to initiate socio-political dialogue, including such projects as the Suspect Backpack and Mobile Patters.
With suitcases spread across the world, she lives in transit – mainly in between Sydney and Berlin.
